Casa Foscolo Istanbul: Unforgettable Experiences
Casa Foscolo, one of the newest boutique hotels in Istanbul, has opened its doors in Pera, one of the city’s most popular and historic locations. Carefully restored as a tribute to the timeless heritage of Istanbul’s rich culture, this 134-year-old building has been elegantly enhanced with modern details. Merging contemporary art, literature, and history, Casa Foscolo invites guests to experience the essence of Istanbul with the distinction of a Design Hotel.
Located in the beloved neighborhood of Pera, Casa Foscolo welcomed its first guests on October 29, 2024. As a member of “Marriott Bonvoy,” the hotel combines the strong connection between the past and present with modern comfort, offering personalized, aesthetic, and high-quality services typical of boutique hotels. Built between 1890 and 1900 as a serviced apartment for the Foscolo Mango & Co. Ltd. shipping company founded by the Venetian Foscolo Family, the historic building has been meticulously restored to preserve contemporary styles and classical influences. It offers both local and international guests a unique opportunity to experience the culture of modern-day Pera through the lens of history.
A Hub of History, Culture, and Art
Casa Foscolo is situated in the heart of Pera, a cultural and artistic hotspot in the city. Just a short walk from İstiklal Avenue, the iconic Galata Tower, and the Tünel funicular, the hotel is also within walking distance of cultural institutions such as Istanbul Modern, Salt Galata, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, the Atatürk Cultural Center, Borusan Sanat, and the Pera Museum. The restoration and interior design of the historic building were overseen by architect Emre Kuzlu, resulting in a carefully restored facade. To preserve the neo-classical artistic essence of the hotel, collaborations with faculty from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University have led to the creation of intricate ceiling decorations, while murals by painter Hakan Özdil have been integrated into the building’s architecture. New travertine and mixed brick details enhance durability and modern appeal, while the high ceilings within maintain the grandeur of the original design. The stone walls have been restored with a focus on maintaining the historic texture and aesthetic charm. A remarkable feature of the hotel is the historic spiral staircase, which serves as a stunning centerpiece.
The hotel boasts a unique art collection featuring works from artists such as Ayşegül Süter, Pınar Baklan, Nancy Atakan, Merve Şendil, Atilla Galip Pınar, Rafael Silveira, Marco di Giovanni, and Oleg Dou, while also providing opportunities for emerging artists. This commitment to art is reflected throughout Casa Foscolo, with contemporary artworks adorning all 18 rooms and suites, creatively enhancing the living spaces. The hotel features a special collection curated by successful artists Filiz Piyale Onat and Şahika Altınsoy, along with an extensive collection sourced from galleries worldwide and unique pieces by local artists. Casa Foscolo aims to provide a luxurious accommodation experience surrounded by art, hosting exhibitions and art workshops for its guests.
With 1+1 and 2+1 suite concepts designed to make guests feel at home, Casa Foscolo embraces each visitor on a personal level, treating them like family. Beyond ensuring comfort, the hotel strives to help guests create beautiful memories during their stay. Minoa Bar, located within the hotel, has been thoughtfully designed to enhance comfortable meetings with special working and exhibition spaces. More than just a place to stay, Casa Foscolo is a new space that fosters interaction and cultural exchange between local and international guests, breathing new life into Pera with its beautifully restored historical character.
